Lighthouses are a niche with a global fan base. Many lighthouse fans schedule vacations around lighthouses, much the same way as some people go on trips to see different castles or to go to different amusement parks. Lighthouses appeal to both history buffs as well as the maritime/boating community. In short, the marketing possibilities are pretty incredible for someone who has the time to develop some of these into sites (which I don’t).
